Kirk Hebstreit actually walked off ESPN set after CFP Committee picked Alabama over Ohio State

Kirk Herbstreit may be a professional 99% of the time, but he wasn’t able to swallow his frustration upon learning that Ohio State—where Kirk played his college ball—wasn’t picked as one of the four CFP playoff teams in Sunday’s selection show.

Alabama got the nod, and when it happened, Kirk walked off the show’s set.

Speaking about the incident later (which sounded like it was done more out of amazement than anger or frustration), Kirk explained what was going on in his head.

“I got up and walked off. And I think symbolic of what if you’re watching this and you’re just a college football fan. We all said, ‘Well, I think it should be Alabama, but it’s gonna be Ohio State. They’re gonna do the politically correct thing.’ Committee just made a statement.”

Apparently so.

I guess an absent Herbstreit is better for business than a fuming one, but isn’t the whole point of being a pro that you can report this stuff without getting all fired up?
