Everybody knows New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is an evil genius who loves nothing more than trolling the hell out everybody. But not even he would engineer the team’s offense so that their points per game average trolled the Atlanta Falcons. Right? I mean, it’s not even possible, is it?
I ask because the Patriots are currently fourth in the NFL in points per game. And, as pointed out by For the Win‘s Steven Ruiz, they are averaging exactly 28.3 points per game.
Take a look:
If you don’t believe that, take a look for yourself before Week 15 messes it up.
In the extremely unlikely event that you’ve somehow forgotten, 28-3 was the score by which the Falcons led the Patriots midway through the third quarter of Super Bowl 51. However, the Patriots came back to win the game in overtime, and ever since then people have been trolling the Falcons with the numbers 2, 8, and 3.
Of course, the Patriots did not win last week. They were humiliated by Jay Cutler and the Miami Dolphins, and their final score of the game was a 33-yard field goal with just 53 seconds left. It’s not like Bill Belichick had a chance to get the ball back and tie the game, but instead chose to lose so the Pats’ PPG average stayed at 28.3.
He wouldn’t do that, right?
